Dr. Cook was born and raised on Matheson Island, which is located at the narrows of Lake Winnipeg. Dr. Cook is well aware that essential services like paved roads, sewage and running water—are major challenges for indigenous communities. These challenges further complicate existing health issues affecting indigenous peoples. Associate Dean of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Health at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Cook helps shape the nature and scope of Aboriginal health care and research in Manitoba. Dr. Cook’s candid, no nonsense approach, to addressing these concerns is eye opening and insightful.
